The Fittest Me

DIANE

Since forever, Diane has exercised. She danced as a kid, did Jane Fonda workouts for many years, and has lately enjoyed yoga. In speaking with her about her fitness history, what resonated was that being active is, and always has been, important to Diane.

When I began the 2nd Wind class for seniors at our church in Glen Ellyn, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, she was one of the first to sign up. With a shoulder injury in tow, we modify her workouts to limit overhead movements. But as you can see from this photo, she is strong from head to toe . . . and her squats reflect it too.

I did a brief Q & A with her.

Q: Why did you add our functional fitness class to your yoga regimen?
A: Because I like you and I can always use more exercise.

Q: How have you improved over these past five months?
A: I'm able to do everything I want to do without problems.

Q: What are your fitness goals?
A: I just want to keep moving. I don't want to be an old creaky lady.

Q: What do you enjoy about class?
A: It's fun. Everyone is nice. There's nice camaraderie.

Q: Why would you recommend 2nd Wind?
A: Because it meets everyone's needs. No matter where anyone is at, you've found a way to meet them.

Now a regular at our Tuesday class, Diane always comes with a smile and is ready to work. Clearly on track to achieve her goals, she is getting stronger each week.

We love having you Diane!
